I trained as a jeweller and worked as an occupational therapy craft instructor. As my children arrived I moved through childminding to teaching in primary schools.
Then my family discovered Kentwell. For several weeks a year a Tudor manor transforms takes itself back to a moment from it's past. School children and the public walk into an all singing all dancing Bruegal painting. I took on the role of a humble Tudor Pedlar.
To my surprise I became who I was pretending to be. The craft and teaching sides of me came together and I reinvented myself as Annie the Pedlar, visiting schools and museums, making haberdashery, costume jewellery, toys and baskets. I bought Tudor accessories from fairs on the west of England and sold them on the east coast. I made Tudor and Elizabethan costumes for re-enactors, museums, schools, theatre and TV.
2015 brought time for another change. I handed on the school visits to others. I'd like to thank all the teachers and children who invited me into their classrooms. We have had such fun together. Jim the Wandering Tent has picked up my peddling baskets and is now selling a lot of my bits and bobs.
From 2016 I am offering the following:
